Regional cuisine in Styria

Murau's Taste – it's all about our love for honest craftsmanship and the best local ingredients. For over 300 years, we've been celebrating family hospitality and Styrian food, adding a dash of Austrian variety and a forward-thinking approach.

We love to share stories about the passionate people in our kitchen and the amazing local products that proudly show off their origins.

Our cooking is deeply rooted in local traditions. We follow the seasons and nature's whims, using everything that farmers and hunters from our region and all over Austria provide.

Lercher's Restaurant got a recommendation in the MICHELIN Guide 2026, and we're incredibly proud of that!

This award isn't just a huge honor for us; it's also a wonderful confirmation that it really pays off to embrace honest craftsmanship, focus on local quality, and cook with genuine passion.

Lercher's Restaurant in the MICHELIN Guide

100% Local. 100% Transparent.

Deeply connected to our region: either gathered by us or made by our trusted local suppliers.

Real local cooking is a rare find these days. We're all about genuine craftsmanship, transparency, and keeping things local. At our Restaurant, we mostly use food from producers we know personally, all from Styria. We even go hunting ourselves, forage for fresh mushrooms, and make our own jams and syrups.

Where does your food really come from? Here at Lercher's Restaurant, you'll know exactly.

  • Bread & pastries from Troadkunst Bakery Harald Binggl
  • Beer from Murauer Brewery
  • Fish from the Schwarzenberg fish farm
  • Game meat from our hunter friends in Baierdorf and Murau
  • Lamb from the Wernig family
  • Gourmet specialties from the Murau master butcher 'die KAILerei'
  • Organic goat cheese and kid goat meat from the Grabmaier-Rath family
  • Seasonal vegetables from Reitzer's vegetable farm

A charming retreat

Lercher's Restaurant is a feel-good spot – a place for sharing stories and enjoying cozy hours together. The region's longest wooden bar is your meeting point in the heart of our house, where guests have been gathering for generations.

In summer, our garden between the lime and maple trees invites you to linger, while the covered larch terrace offers a refreshing escape. Because feeling good is a given for us, we create spaces for enjoyment, conversations, and special moments.

Parties & celebrations in Murau

The heart of our Restaurant is our cozy dining room, which can fit about 30 people. Each of the 7 individual tables is carved from a different type of wood and has its own story to tell.

Our red lounge can host small gatherings of up to 20 people, and in summer, it leads directly to our outdoor dining area. Local artists regularly display their paintings here, so take your time and dive into Murau's culture.

The Panorama room can fit up to 15 people. Here, you'll enjoy stunning views of the Stolzalpe mountain. In the mornings, the sun will gently wake you, and in the evenings, you'll be mesmerized by a sea of twinkling lights.

Our Coat of Arms Hall can host all kinds of events for up to 80 people. The crackling fireplace is especially cozy during the winter months.
