Alpine hiking in the region Murau Kreischberg

From St. Ruprecht a toll road leads to your starting point at the Jausenstation Koasahütte. The family-friendly hike leads on alpine hiking trails to the summit of the Gstoder. To the right and left of the path you can admire the beautiful larch forest and, in early summer, the alpine bush blossoms. Your children will discover, next to the red-white-red trail markings, again and again busy ants building huge piles.

The border between Styria and Salzburg runs directly above the summit. The "border guard" between the district of Murau and Lungau offers at 2,140m above sea level a breathtaking view of the surrounding mountains from the Niedere Tauern in the north to the Karawanken in the south. Back at your starting point, a cozy stop at the Koasahütte awaits you.

Recommended on this hike is a visit to the wood museum St. Ruprecht. Discover the raw material wood. Exciting changing theme exhibitions are worth a trip for the whole family.

Tip: Try the wooden water playground. Do not forget to pack a change of clothes for your children. The best time for this hike is from May to October, or even into November if the weather is nice.
