Experience the fine art of brewing beer
Beer has been brewed in Murau since 1495. Then in 1995, on the occasion of the 500th anniversary, the brewing museum was founded.
To the newly designed Brewery of the Senses you can walk comfortably from the Murau Gasthof Hotel Lercher along the Mur, in about 10 minutes you are already there!
The Brewery of the Senses is located in an ancient, beautiful vaulted cellar. The exhibits and the intense scent of raw materials create a graceful atmosphere that will make anyone a Murau beer lover. Many of the brewing devices are already more than 100 years old - especially interesting is also the view into the brewhouse from 1912.
The brewing museum
In the museum you will gain insight into the fine art of brewing beer from the past to the present. For example, you will learn: What is a mass cake press? What does a blending rack look like? And how does a mass filter work?
The jewel of the Brewery of the Senses, however, is the show brewery. Creative beer specialties such as the Pale Ale or Stout are brewed in the miniature brewery.
On your return to the hotel, you will be spoiled with regional dishes at Lercher's Restaurant. Afterwards, relax in the hotel's own wellness area. On the other days of your stay in Murau you can explore the hiking and biking tours in the region.
