Experience the fine art of beer brewing
In Murau, beer has been brewed since way back in 1495. Then, in 1995, the brewery museum was founded to celebrate its 500th anniversary.
You can take a leisurely stroll along the Mur river from Murauer Gasthof Hotel Lercher to the newly designed Brewery of the Senses – you'll be there in about 10 minutes!
The Brewery of Senses is nestled in an ancient, beautiful vaulted cellar. The exhibits, along with the rich scent of raw ingredients, create a charming vibe that makes everyone fall in love with Murau beer. Lots of the brewing equipment is already over 100 years old – and taking a look into the 1912 brewhouse is especially cool!
The Brewery Museum
At the museum, you'll get a peek into the amazing art of beer brewing, from way back when to today. For instance, you'll discover: What's a mass cake press? What does a blending buck look like? And how does a mass filter actually work?
But the real gem of the Brewery of Senses is the show brewery. In this miniature brewery, they craft creative beer specialties like Pale Ale and Stout.
When you get back to the hotel, you'll be spoiled with delicious regional dishes at Lercher's Restaurant. Afterwards, kick back and relax in our wellness area. On the other days of your Murau stay, you can explore the hiking and cycling tours around the region.
