The Wood Museum is about a 15-minute drive from Murauer Gasthof Hotel Lercher!
Since 1988, a truly special museum has been nestled right in the heart of the Styrian Wood World. It's a unique spot, not only to discover everything about wood as a raw material but also an exciting destination for the whole family! You can enjoy craft workshops, a cool water-wood playground, an arboretum (a tree garden with over 70 different woody plants), and tons of exhibits spread across multiple levels and buildings.
This museum is absolutely perfect for the whole family! It's not your typical exhibition; it's an experience for everyone, whether you're a beginner or an expert. A fantastic program is waiting for you, with crafting, DIY projects, bowling, nailing games, stilt walking, and so much more!
The idea for this museum was actually introduced in 1984 by the "Styrian Wood Museum" association. Their aim was to bring wood back into the spotlight and give it a more important place in modern people's lives.
