Spring is getting closer even up on the mountain, but should you put your skis away already? No way! The Lachtal ski resort offers skiing fun right into April.

This family-run Hotel Gasthof in the heart of Styria is just perfect for your ski vacation. In our cozy house, you can choose between Murau 4*, Hotel 4*, and Budget 3* rooms, all with views of Stolzalpe and Murau Castle, owned by the Schwarzenberg family. At the foot of Schlossberg, right in the historic old town of Murau, we spoil our guests with our half-board option, or you can choose our regional delicacies à la carte. Grab some fresh air as you wander through the small historic trading center. While exploring, you might discover the Brewery of the Senses or join a tour through Murau's Renaissance castle, owned by the Schwarzenberg family. Walk through the town with open eyes and be enchanted by this small, historic, and cultural idyll.

Lifts and gondolas

In the Lachtal winter sports area, you'll find 2 six-seater chairlifts and 6 drag lifts.

For the little ones, there's a magic carpet and a Teddy rope lift. On the slopes, they can zoom through the mini slalom at the figure course and on the wave run.

Kilometers of slopes and difficulty levels

The slope map shows 25 km of blue, red, and black runs. Freeriders will absolutely love it! Fantastic descents with lots of natural jumps are waiting for you, and all the little border-freaks are already practicing in the ski area to break out into the wilderness. Plus, there are 10 km of marked ski routes (though not groomed or controlled), as well as 1 cross-country ski trail, 1 winter hiking path, 1 illuminated ice rink, and 1 illuminated toboggan run.

The sun's rays gently wake you up. You open the window and let the crystal-clear air in. All excited, you get ready for your ski day at Lachtal. The comforting warm smell of fresh pastries and coffee fills your nose. Your breakfast with homemade delicacies is waiting for you. Feeling energized, you drive for about half an hour to Lachtal.

Once you arrive at the valley station, you realize you've lost your ski poles. No worries, you can easily get what you need at Sportshop Skirent Lachtal. You've already bought your ski pass ticket online, or you can use the contactless ticket machine right next to the regular ticket counter.

Once you reach the top at 2,222m above sea level, you immediately dive into the fun. The wide, perfectly groomed slopes will make you want more. Every now and then, you'll test your freeride skills off-piste and try out the amazing descents. Gentle jumps into the soft deep snow will make you feel truly free.

To warm up, visit one of the famous romantic huts in Lachtal. Treat yourself to some classic hut dishes. After the hearty meal, a little schnapps will be waiting for you.

Warm and energized, you're ready to go again. You're already looking forward to the more challenging descents ahead. Breathless, you reach the valley station. As a true speed demon on the slopes, you're curious how many kilometers you've covered. Good thing the Skiline feature on the Lachtal website helps you out by tracking your kilometers on the slopes. You'll safely take the winding road back to your accommodation in Murau.

After all that fresh air, you've earned a little break. Freshly showered and warmed up again in the cozy wellness area, you enter the restaurant and let yourself be spoiled by our regional recommendations for today, perhaps with a selected glass of Styrian wine or a sip of Murauer beer.

Feeling content, you reflect on your day and sink into the soft pillows of your cozy bed.

You'll find Lachtal right in the heart of Austria's Styria region, nestled in the Lower Tauern mountains. The easiest way to get here is via the Tauernautobahn, then Tamsweg, Murau, and the Oberzeiring exit if you're coming from Salzburg/Munich. Or, if you're coming from Vienna and Graz, take the Murtalschnellstraße to Judenburg, St. Georgen ob Judenburg, and Oberzeiring.
