Circumnavigate the Stolzalpe by bike
Starting point only a few meters from the Murau Gasthof Hotel Lercher!
Easy bike tour for beginners but also enthusiasts consisting of 35.4 km of asphalt roads, 5.8 km of gravel roads and 1.8 km of forest roads. On this combined tour you will find several opportunities to stop for refreshment and thirst quenching, for example in inns in Katsch an der Mur, St. Peter am Kammersberg, Schöder and Rottenmann.
On your return to the Murau Gasthof Hotel Lercher a cozy dinner awaits you in Lercher's Restaurant. Here you will be served traditional dishes, prepared from products of the region. After dinner you can end the day with a walk through the town of Murau.

Directions:
The tour leads from the starting point east to the Stolzalpen traffic circle and on towards Scheifling. In Scheifling you follow the Mur cycle path R2 to Frojach. In Frojach you continue on the Katch cycle path R1. The next towns are St. Peter, Mitterdorf and Freistritz. From here you follow the R1 until shortly before Beierdorf. At the end of Beierdorf you have to follow the R1 to Schöder. Afterwards the tour leads you to Rottenmann and via the Ranten cycle path R63 back to Murau.

Take a little detour
Along the Mur cycle path you ride in the direction of Katsch. The small daughter church Maria Dorn in Saurau just before Frojach is definitely worth a short visit. Once you reach the top, the Wölzer Tauern mountains are at your feet. The Greim, one of the 8 mountain personalities of the Murau region, seems close enough to touch. Via Oberwölz and St. Peter am Kammersberg you get back to your original route.
Another destination on your trip to Murau is the Günster waterfall. Not far from Schöder you will find the highest waterfall in Styria with a drop height of 65m. After a short walk through the forest, you will reach the waterfall via a few wooden bridges. Listen to the roaring water. On hot summer days, the cool air is especially pleasant and refreshing. Small benches along the way invite you to linger. You cycle back via Rottenmann and the Ranten cycle path.
