Touring & Winter Hiking

The region Murau - Kreischberg is gently nestled between the most beautiful mountains and is therefore the perfect vacation destination for passionate tourers. Here, winter fun away from the ski slopes is guaranteed. Guided ski tours are also possible in the vacation region.

The Tauern and Nockberge mountains offer versatile opportunities for touring skiers to get active in winter. For example, there is the 2,740 m high Preber at the border to Lungau, the 2,396 m high, well-known Zirbitzkogel and the 2,474 m high Greim to discover on touring skis. In summer, many hikers can be found here.

After the tour you can warm up with a warm cup of tea in Lercher's Restaurant. This is accompanied by something sweet from the menu. Afterwards you can end the day with a visit to the in-house wellness area.

The Grebenzen is especially popular for longer, as well as shorter ski tours. The huts along the way invite you to stop for a bite to eat while ski touring.

The difficulty of the tour is classified as medium. With a length of 6.75 km, the duration of the tour is about 1 hour and 40 minutes. The start is at the valley station of the cable car Grebenzen "Pabstin" 1,000 m in St. Lambrecht. Parking is available right there. The destination of the tour is the Grebenzen Schutzhaus at 1,680 m above sea level.

The Dreiwiesenhütten ski tour is an ideal tour for in-between and for training purposes with several good downhill options.

This challenging tour is 7.11 km long and is completed in about 2 hours. The starting point is the valley station Bergbahnen Grebenzen "Pabstin" at 1,000 m above sea level in St. Lambrecht. Parking is possible directly there. The finish point is the Dreiwiesenhütte on the first Grebenzen height.

Snowboard School Suli offers a half-day guided snowshoe hike between Christmas and Easter. You will receive snowshoes and poles directly from the snowboard school. At the end there is a mulled wine.

A moonlight snowshoe tour is offered by the Wirnsberger Ski School.

After the winter fun you can relax with a massage in the wellness area of the Murau Gasthof Hotel Lercher. Afterwards, indulge in a cozy meal with wine accompaniment from Lercher's wine cellar. For the next few days of your winter vacation, there are one or two ski resorts in the region.

The Frauenalpe, Murau's local mountain, is a household name for ski tourers and snowshoe hikers. As soon as the first snow falls, a wonderful round tour with snowshoes awaits us here.

The moderate ascent to the Troghütte, the open spaces in the summit area, the view of the almost 2000 m high summit and the various descent options make this tour special. Starting point is the parking lot at the Murauer Hütte at 1583 m. As a conclusion to a successful snowshoe day on the Frauenalpe, we recommend a short - we've already had enough exercise - walk through the old town of Murau with the possibility of a stop at the Hotel Lercher.
