Beautiful alpine trail for experienced hikers

Forest paths will lead you to an alpine pasture with a beautiful larch forest and ancient trees. A hiking trail with a few switchbacks will take you past blooming alpine roses in early summer, leading you to the Zwiefler lakes. After about an hour of walking, you'll reach the high plateau. The high moor will guide you to the first lake.

Passing a small waterfall and crossing a second high moor, you'll get closer and closer to the Upper Zwiefler Lake. Follow the bright markers straight ahead towards a gravel gully. Continuing upwards, you'll pass the second Zwiefler Lake and reach the ridge. The climb is quite steep and can be a bit tricky in places due to the huge boulders. At the fork in the path, you can choose between the alpine ridge trail (for those who are good with heights and experienced) or the normal ascent to the summit.

You'll descend via the same path. After conquering the summit, you've definitely earned a refreshment at the rustic Kreuzerhütte. Maybe you'll even snag a homemade treat!

The best time for this tour is from May to October, or even in November if the weather is nice – it really depends on the conditions.
